The Avenues Revitalization Building Deconstruction
ACDED and Hanson Design Group, Ltd. had previously isolated four buildings in the Homestead and West Homestead areas to be deconstructed based on their delinquent financials and deteriorated states. After all hazardous materials were removed from each building, Hanson Design Group, Ltd. enforced a strict waste management policy through project specific deconstruction specifications.

The Avenues Revitalization Streetscape Renewal
Hanson Design Group, Ltd. was commissioned by the Allegheny County Department of Economic Development and The Enterprise Zone Corporation to prepare design and construction documents for the streetscapes of both Sixth and Seventh Avenues from their intersection to their ends at McClure Street. This zone stretches through three boroughs; West Homestead, Homestead and Munhall and included in it is the major artery to the Waterfront Development, Amity Street.

Braddock's Field Master Plan
The Braddock's Field Development Team created a Master Plan that calls for the revitalization of the neighborhood surrounding Library Street and Jones Avenue in the communities of Braddock and North Braddock, Pennsylvania. The multi-phase plan included the construction of twenty-nine new for-sale homes, extensive landscaping, the installation of new parking areas and support for the creation of additional recreational opportunities.

Central European Linkages Project
Hanson Design Group, Ltd. provides ongoing design consulting services and onsite participation in the construction of projects for the Central European Linkages Project (CELP).

Central Oakland Planning Study
Hanson Design Group, Ltd. was contracted through the Community Design Center of Pittsburgh to perform a study of existing conditions in the Target Area, analyze architectural patterns, and then outline an incentive program for property owners.

East Hills Visioning Process
In 2003, First and Second East Hills were purchased from their longtime owners by out of town developers with extensive experience in low-income housing: Winn Development and Telesis, respectively. These companies are working to renovate and rebuild their portions of East Hills, and have partnered with the Urban Redevelopment Authority to create a vision for the future of East Hills, one that can guide future development and neighborhood improvements, one that will engage the residents for East Hills to envision and create a better future for themselves, their families, and their community.

Homestead Housing
Hanson Design Group, Ltd. has prepared a housing development strategy for the core residential area of Homestead, PA. The strategy was developed through numerous workshops and meetings with community representatives and is based on twelve goals developed by the community at the beginning of the project.

Kennedy Town Center
Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) is a smart growth strategy that is being successfully applied in other regions of the country. The concept of TOD reflects back on traditional town centers with all of the typical amenities within walking distance. TOD also embraces technology, current lifestyles and interests, and structures these features around transit options. This diversity offers consumers choices with great location advantage over the more conventional, fragmented single-use shopping experience, the office park and the residential subdivision.

Meadowcrest Townhomes
Meadowcrest Townhomes is a planned housing development on a site surrounded by an existing residential neighborhood. The development is designed to maintain the integrity of that surrounding neighborhood, while providing quality, affordable housing of diverse types.

Mooncrest Redevelopment Plan
Hanson Design Group was selected by the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County (RAAC), Moon Township, and the Mooncrest Neighborhood Association to create a redevelopment plan for Mooncrest. In order to do this, Hanson Design Group conducted a survey of existing conditions in Mooncrest, mapped those conditions into a GIS database, met with the community to determine wants and needs, developed preliminary responses to both physical conditions and residents' expressed interests, and worked closely all of the involved parties to produce a final Redevelopment Plan that will guide Mooncrest to the greater future that everyone envisions.

Neighborhood Conditions Site Analysis
Hanson Design Group, Ltd. was selected by the Sanders Task Force to conduct five neighborhood analyses. The Sanders Task Force is working to address the legacy of systemic segregation in County Housing. Each target area is defined at a roughly two block radius surrounding Allegheny County Housing Authority communities that have been, or are in the process of being renovated or rebuilt. The neighborhoods surround the following ACHA communities: Mapleview Terrace in Braddock, Hawkins Village in Rankin, Burns Heights in Duquesne, McKees Rocks Terrace (to be renamed Meyer's Ridge) and Hays Extension, both in McKees Rocks.

North Braddock Housing Revitalization
Working hand-in-hand with the community, Hanson Design Group, Ltd. developed a housing development strategy and implementation plan. Key to the development plan is the transformation of Sixth Street into a tree lined boulevard with greenspace buffering the neighborhood. This green corridor will enable the development of an attractive entrance into the neighborhood.

Hanson Design Group, Ltd. was selected by the Rankin Partnership and The Community Builders, Inc. to provide architectural planning and consulting assistance with the development of a Housing Investment Strategy for the Borough of Rankin. The project consists of two phases.
