  Doughboy Square Townhomes
boxbox

Initially, Hanson Design Group, Ltd. was selected by the Lawrenceville Development Corporation (LDC) to prepare site feasibility studies for constructing sale homes on a steeply sloped, awkwardly shaped site. It was determined that a duplex unit type provided the optimal development of the site and met the unit type requirements of the project. Hanson Design Group, Ltd. provided the remaining architectural and landscape architectural services for the project. Funding for the project included the LDC, Urban Redevelopment Authority, private foundations and banks.

The area of the project had been in decline for many decades. With some promising commercial developments in the general area, the LDC renovated a historic bank structure immediately adjacent to the site. This site was seen as an opportunity to re-establish quality housing in the area. All of the townhomes were sold prior to completion.

Due to the traffic on the busy street, it was determined that the homes should have a front door and garage door on the sides of the structure. The entrance was brought to the street face with a pergola and brick archway. The living area, a floor above grade, has a large deck above private rear yards with a view of the neighborhood below and city beyond. The bedrooms on the second floor are configured to provide for a two bedroom or three bedroom configuration. The top floor is designed as an option for home office or bedroom space.
