The housing development consists of five new homes, including two duplexes and one single-family home along Penn Avenue, across Ligonier Street from the Stephen Foster house. Hanson Design Group, Ltd. was selected by the Lawrenceville Corporation along with Sustainable Communities, LLC, and Steve Catranel Construction Company to act as the design-build team for the project.
Sponsored by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, the project is intended to build on the successful housing developments by the project team in the past, and to raise the market of new homes being offered in Lawrenceville.
The home designs feature brick street facades and gabled roof dormers to respect the historic homes along Penn Avenue, including the Stephen Foster home. The two duplexes are designed to have the street presence of larger single-family homes, and the corner duplex has a wrap-around porch which also provides separated front entrances on each street face.
The homes are two-story, three bedroom units with full basements and first floor powder rooms. Options are made available for master bathrooms and a finished third floor for an additional bedroom or family room. The sites offer generous yard space and a two-car parking pad off of the rear alley.
The project will dramatically and positively impact the area, replacing existing broken asphalt parking lots and deteriorated structures with a strong urban housing development in one of Pittsburghıs most historic neighborhoods.
