  Perrysville Streetscape
boxboxbox

This project consisted of 2400 linear feet of streetscape in an anonymous commercial district in a small town in Pennsylvania. Through the design and construction process, a strong community identity was created, along with a sense of community pride.

The Village Green is the formal and ceremonial heart of the commercial district. This reinforces the sense of "place" and creates a landmark for the town gatherings and festivals. In addition, the entrance features clearly demarcate the commercial district which acts as a beacon for the activities that occur within.

An historical design, much of the construction detailing and design was influenced by an early 20th century study dating from the original settlement of the area. The pedestrian scale of the commercial district provides a comfortable setting for shoppers, business people and visitors. Design of ample lighting along the sidewalk ensures a level of safety during evening hours as well. Through a committee design process, attention was paid to the desires and needs of the community, which contributes to the success of this streetscape and town center as a whole.
