  Shadeland Avenue Townhomes
boxboxboxboxboxboxboxbox

The housing development consists of three single-family detached homes along Shadeland Avenue in the neighborhood of the faith-based organization, New Hope for Neighborhood Renewal, a developing agency of New Hope Church. Hanson Design Group, Ltd. was selected as the architect for the project, and construction was performed by Sustainable Communities, LLC.

The development represents the first new construction in the neighborhood in over 40 years, and replaces vacant lots on a steeply sloped site with a view of the Ohio River Valley. The site planning offers full front porches elevated from the public sidewalk, full side yards, and on-grade access to rear patios from the 10 foot tall basements. Off-street parking for two cars is provided behind the homes.

The new structures boast three-stories, 1-1/2 baths, with a finished third floor bedroom, taking advantage of the views. The project is designed to meet energy-star home ratings for energy efficiency, with highly insulated exterior walls of dense-blown cellulose insulation. The interior finishes include recycled carpet and pad, zero VOC paints, and true linoleum flooring in the kitchen and bathrooms.

The project is funded by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, The Federal Home Loan Bank, and benefited from the volunteer painting and landscaping from the developer, New Hope Church.
