  Versailles Streetscape
boxbox

To make this project a reality, the community leaders of Versailles sought funding from the County Commercial Revitalization Program and chose Hanson Design Group, Ltd. to provide complete services from planning through construction administration. Due to funding limitations, the project was designed and is being constructed in six phases.

Creation of a positive image and unification of the long and aesthetically fragmented commercial district are the primary objectives of this project. The target area includes numerous residential properties scattered among commercial areas, therefore, necessary differentiation between the two is achieved through a variation of the materials theme.

Elements of the streetscape theme include lighting, new pavement surfaces, signage, planting and a variety of special streetscape elements such as a bus shelter, flag plaza and monument area. Each of these elements include custom designs to provide unique and memorable characteristics. The sidewalk surface was designed to reduce the fast paced vehicular scale of the street to a multidirectional pattern to re-orient the pedestrian in a more friendly scaled environment. Phases I, II and III are now complete.
